Seventy Filipino domestic workers who recently arrived in Singapore received briefings on various Singapore regulations and Philippine Embassy services during the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) held yesterday via the Zoom video platform. Embassy officers led by Ambassador Joseph Del Mar Yap gave the briefing to help the workers understand the way of living in Singapore. Our objective for holding the PAOS is for our workers to experience a safe and pleasant stay in Singapore, Yap said.
PAOS is organized by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) to inform domestic workers of their labor rights, responsibilities as well as the various programs and services of the Philippine Embassy and its attached agencies. Labor Attaché Saul De Vries said that the regular conduct of PAOS is a directive of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III. All POLOs are required to give PAOS to OFWs within one month of their arrival in their host country.
Resource speakers in yesterday’s PAOS were Consul General Adrian Bernie Candolada, Consul Laarni Zorayda Gandarosa, Vice Consul Jhullie Ann Beniahan, Labor Attaché De Vries, Assistant Labor Attaché Macy Monique Maglanque, Welfare Officer Marivic Clarin, Commercial Attaché Rosa Katrina Banzon, SSS Representative Lucille Blesilda Simbol and Pag-ibig Representative Christian Jan Oliveros. Ms. Nina Saldi of OWWA Singapore moderated the PAOS proceedings. ###
